Governor Rochas Okorocha, who visited the ailing legal luminary at the hospital on Wednesday, confirmed to reporters that government was already discussing Oputa’s  medical trip abroad with his family.

Though he tried to dispel fears about the severity of Oputa’s case, Okorocha declined to give details about the elderstatesman’s health.
Okocha simply said, “He is in good hands and his health is improving but he needed more medical attention abroad and in line with the wishes of the family we have concluded plans to immediately fly him abroad.
“As a great citizen of this country and Imo State, he deserves the best and the state is totally committed to that and all expenses will be taken care of.”
The nonagenarian retired Justice who hails from Oguta Council Area of Imo State is currently on admission in Room 4 at FMC, Owerri.
Reporters were however not allowed to see him, even though they followed the governor to the hospital.
The governor was accompanied by the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Mr.  Benjamin Uwajumogu to the hospital.
Oputa was the Chairman of the famous Oputa Panel that looked into the cases of human rights violations by the military governments.
