My Strong will for excellence and family support made me achieve Academic Excellence - Dr Olawunmi Ogunmola

I am starting a series, and this series is me interviewing some people doing great in key areas, I decided to kick start the episode with someone I share a history with because I saw firsthand how she excelled while we were in secondary school, the reason why I am doing this is simple, to help people trace certain things backward and to help them see how some things are predictive.

Wunmi and I went to the same secondary school and I can tell you without a doubt, she was very studious, she was a bookworm,, but II also know many bookworms that were not geniuses, so I decided to ask her how she did it.

some people say, Hard workLuck, Heredity, and Prayers, I say, let's hear from the horse's mouth.

She was the best-graduating Chemical Engineering student in the year 2008/2009 from Obafemi Awolowo University with a CGPA of 4.88

Me; Hi Olawunmi, long time, how have you been?

Dr. Olawunmi: I am doing great, indeed, it's been a long time,

Me; I am reaching out to you because I have some questions for you, I would like for you to share some of the things that helped you while you were growing up, that reflected in your studies, is that okay with you?
Dr; sure, why not? it would be my pleasure to share.

Me; what would you say was responsible for your excellent grades right from your primary school days to your PhD

Dr olawunmi; thanks so much for this opportunity to share, top on the list, I would say I got the support of my parents and my older brother who took his time to help me with my academics, I remember he used to organize lessons and would teach me some advance things before going back to school, and my parents also played their role by ensuring that I did well in my academics, but one thing that I must not fail to add is my strong will to excel, I made friends with the very best, I ensured I surrounded myself with people that would encourage me to read, and I also ensured I read very well, so I can say there were several factors that contributed to my success
1. My Parents followed me up Squarely
2. My older brother took the role of my teacher at home, he taught me and other people in my area
3. I had a very strong will to excel
4. I made sure I taught others, this helped me in studying more so I could teach others,
5. Prayers.

Me; Wow! Tell us a little bit about your educational background

McGill University, Canada  Ph.D. Chemical Engineering
Imperial College London  Msc. in advanced chemical engineering with process system engineering
BSC In Chemical Engr

Me; thanks so much for your time.

Dr. Olawunmi; The pleasure is mine
