Ekweremadu was declared the winner of the election by a  faction of  Senators consisting of minority All Progressives Congress (APC) senators and a majority from the PDP.
The election was witnessed by the national leaders  of the PDP and some of its governors, the Governors of Rivers, Ondo and Cross River States were in the Senate chambers to witness the contentious election.
The result as announced by the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly   indicated that a total number of 75 senators took part in the voting.
Out of this, Ekweremadu got 54 while  his main challenger, Senator Ali Ndume got 20 votes
One of the senators was said to have absented himself from voting.
It is the first time in Nigeria political history that a Deputy Senate President would emerge from the opposition party.

I started calling myself a failed blogger because after blogging for so many years, I didn't get the anticipated traffic, so I abandoned it for more interesting things, well, so I thought, unknown to me, once a writer, always a writer, II have been writing on some of my social media platforms and I noticed the traffic is not exactly how I expect it to be, I started questioning myself, am I that bad? why am I not getting the level of interest that I envisaged from people, then it dawned on me. I... get it now.... I am called out to write for the purpose of uplifting, which means my stories and posts are all about good news and uplifting stories, this is not what most people like to hear, what they like is something catchy with an undertone of bad news, it's not their fault, the brain is wired to zoom in on the negatives. I woke up one morning and said to myself, if sharing good news...
