The fifth edition of the Nigeria Music contest sponsored by Etisalat Nigeria came to a close at the weekend with Kunle Ogunrombi, K-Peace, emerging winner.
He smiled home with a brand new SUV car, cash prize of N7.5 million and a recording deal with Universal Music Company at the grand finale show held at Dream Studio, Omole Phase 1, Lagos.
K-Peace also known as the King of Originality and Fuji beat Dolu in a grand finale that was characterised by glitz & glam, superlative performances and jaw-dropping moments.
His emergence as the winner ended months of heart-rending performances that started with thousands of contestants at the auditions that took place in Benin, Abuja, Port-Harcourt, Ibadan and Lagos, to knock-out rounds and down to the Top-2 contestants, who won the hearts of the judges and viewers nationwide.
The highlight of the finale was the performance of the Nigerian-French singer, songwriter and recording artist, Asa who lit up the stage and hearts of guests with hit songs from her chart-topping new album, Bird of Stone.
Speaking at the event, Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Francesco Angelone said the company recognised Nigerian Idol as a veritable platform to identify, nurture and celebrate young talented Nigerians.

This season, all the contestants have been amazing in their individual right and K-Peace particularly has been outstanding from the audition stage and we are glad that the voting public has crowned a winner deserving of his crown.’’
An ecstatic K-Peace who was unable to control his happiness shed tears of joy and declared that he was overwhelmed and shocked at being crowned the winner of the competition. He said, “I am overwhelmed getting to this stage today because I faced tougher and amazing talents, especially Dolu. I thank the sponsors of this competition for giving me the opportunity to pursue my dream.”
