Sydney's colourful inner west is more famous for its shopping, dinning and small bars than it is for its water buffalo.
To the amazement of those in Camperdown and Newtown, two buffalo on the loose were seen gunning down busy streets on Tuesday morning.
Fire and Rescue NSW Supt Ian Krimmer said a team was returning from a fire call out when they spotted the two massive animals by chance when they turned onto Carillion Ave, Camperdown
'They were confronted with two water buffalo loose on the road,' he said. 'They followed them in the truck, stopped, took the ladders out and used them as movable gates and fences to corral the animals.'
The workers were able to move the animals into the front yard of a house, where they remained until wranglers arrived and moved the pair into a truck.
