Kwara Elders Committee on Thursday openly expressed their support for the anti- corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The elders said that the move was a strong signal to the international community that corruption and indiscipline will no longer be condoned in the country again
According to the statement issued by the Kwara Elders Committee in Illorin, Kwara state capital signed by Alhaji Abdulrahman Gold (Kwara central), Chief Yekeen Obalowu(Kwara South) and Ezekiel Kolo(Kwara North) they noted that, “inspite of pressures from several quarters, President Buhari has remained true to his promise to rid the country of corruption, no matter whose ox is gored”.
,”For the first time in this country, we are witnessing a genuine, systematic approach to anti-graft war”.
They said that, “For instance, the Treasury Single Account(TSA), the Integrated Personnel System(IPPS) and the government Integrated Financial System(GIFMIS) have all evidently blocked many leakages and saved Nigerians from official grafts”.
The statement reads, “We are particular delighted that inspite of pressures from several quarters, President Buhari has remained true to his promise to rid the country of corruption, no matter ox is gored.
“As elders, we have watched helplessly as corruption in highly places has wrecked unimaginable havoc on our communities and the future of our children.
“We are therefore determined than ever to ensure that corruption that has riddled virtually all strata of our society is curbed to the bearest minimum if not totally eradicated.
“This is why we are delighted to throw our weight behind President Buhari and his team for fulfilling a major flank of the election promises of the APC-led federal government and we urged the President not to be deterred by the antics of the corrupt and their sidekicks”.
The statement therefore urged those that had been allegedly indicted to face their trials so that the law courts can determine either they are guilty or innocent at the appropriate time.
