The first civilian
governor of Delta State, Olorogun Felix Ovuodoroye Ibru, is dead. He
died in Lagos, at the age of 80
The cause of the death was hazy at press time, but family sources said he had been battling ill-health in the last five years. The late Ibru became governor on January 2, 1992 but was removed from office on November 17, 1993 after General Sani Abacha coup which overthrew the then interim government of Chief Ernest Shonekan.
