Marriage is a partnership-Onuorah Onianwe

In my last article, I wrote about the cooking issue that occurs in marriages and how some use it as an excuse to be unfaithful, citing the fact that while it is still mostly women who take on the role of cooking, it would not be a bad idea for men to be considerate in doing it at times. I also wrote that it was wrong for men to task women in terms of when she should cook and what she should cook every day. Such an act is tedious and unrealistic as it is unwise. There is nothing wrong for a man to warm soup to eat or is there? If he did, will the man die or be disgraced in his village? Perhaps, his ancestors will rise from their graves and remove him among his kinsmen.

Nigeria sliding fast into dictatorship, says Fayose

Governor Ayo Fayose has lamented the alleged restriction of his movement in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday, warning that Nigeria is descending dangerously into a dictatorship. Fayose noted that the democratic tenets that have been enthroned in Nigeria for 15 years by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are fast being eroded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in less than two years. He called on all lovers of democracy to act fast before the situation gets out of hand. The Ekiti State governor who spoke through his Special Adviser on Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said the restriction of his movement by a democratically elected government was “barbaric to say the least.” “The position of the governor was that in a democracy, we should not be experiencing this. The last time we had this kind of thing was during the military. The thing that we have long overcome with 15 years of democracy, one year of APC should not take us back to that dark age.

MARRIAGE IS BEYOND COOKING-PASTOR CHRIS OJIGBANI

Recently, there is this controversy on social media that a man shouldn’t marry a woman who doesn’t know how to cook or a woman who doesn’t pray for an hour. So, I deem it necessary to clarify the issue. As the apostle of marriage, it’s my responsibility to clarify the issue to avoid causing more delayed marriage, separation and divorce in the world. This is the will of God concerning the issue: You must not use cooking as a criterion for choosing your spouse. Though food is important in life, cooking must not be used as a criterion for choosing a spouse. Why? I tell you three reasons.

Usain Bolt wins historic Olympic 100m gold in Rio

Usain Bolt wins gold in the ongoing Olympics in Rio,The Jamaican had promised the world he would create history in Rio and he proved good to his word, brushing past his great American rival Justin Gatlin with 25m to go to coast to become the first man to win three Olympic 100m titles. This was Bolt’s slowest championship winning time, a far cry when he raced away from the field to set an Olympic record of 9.63 sec in London four years ago. It is part of a gradual slowing down and he winds towards retirement next year. At the world championships in Moscow in 2013 he had run 9.77, in Beijing last year 9.79. Simultaneously he appears increasingly mortal yet still far beyond the reach of his contemporaries. “I’m really happy but I expected to go faster,” Bolt admitted. “With the turnaround time between the semi-final and final we normally have two hours, but we had one hour 20 minutes, it was challenging. But I’m just happy that I won and that’s the key thing.”
