The Benue government might be forced to fire 34,000 workers after workers refused to have their salaries adjusted downwards.
The Nigerian Tribute reports that downward adjustment was proposed in order to end primary teachers in the state's strike.
According to the report, the teachers are demanding to be paid the minimum wage of N18,000 and have been on strike since October last year.
Osun Defender reports that Benue Governor Gabriel Suswam asked state workers to agree to a 10 percent salary cut in order to meet the teachers' demands.
