The Imo State Police Command has arrested 18-year-old Bobo John after he and members of his cult group killed a 24- year -old commercial motorcycle rider and buried his body in a shallow grave inside a forest after snatching his motorcycle. The suspect last Thursday led policemen to Igwebuike forest in Awara community in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, where he and four accomplices buried the victim identified as Stanley Eluwa,
The Comptroller General of Customs Compliance Team yesterday in Kano burnt over 2, 700 pieces of raw Donkey hides and skins valued at N25 million which was intercepted at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), in an attempt to export the commodity abroad. The Head of the CG Compliance Team, Comptroller Ahmed Abubakar Azarema, who was flanked by the Kano/Jigawa Customs Command Comptroller, Mr. Yusuf Abba-Kassim, described the exportation of unprocessed hides and skin as criminal and economic sabotage. According to him, “it is disheartening to note that some Nigerians are now indulged in unpatriotic business of exporting unprocessed leather, while we have our tannery industries here. Doing this means killing our economy, doing this means outing hundreds of thousands of our teeming youths out of employment.

South African President, Jacob Zuma has been conferred with the “Ochiagha Imo” chieftaincy title by Eze Imo, HRH Samuel Ohiri Owerri, Imo State. A former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Victor Malu, has died. Malu who served under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, died in the early hours of yesterday the 9th of October at a hospital in Cairo, Egypt. He was 70 years old. The former ECOMOG Commander (Peace Keeping Force), from August 1996 to January 1998, was Chief of Army Staff during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration May 1999 to April 2001. Malu chaired the military tribunal that tried former Chief of General Staff and Vice Chairman Armed Forces Ruling Council Gen. Oladipo Diya and others in 1998 over alleged coup plot against the then head of state, Gen. Sanni Abacha. May his soul rest in peace Amen.

Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos has said that there is no Godliness in the decision by some churches in the country to have as many branches as possible. He described such branches as “mere business centres,” insisting that there is indeed no godliness in planting churches in close proximity. In a recent interview with NewTelegraph , the Cardinal noted that the creation of such churches has not elicited commensurate level of godliness across the land.
